What do I plan to do during a beach vacation?

The general consensus is that the more laid back a beach vacation with kids is, the better. Beach vacations should be relaxing. So don’t plan on any more than one activity per day.

What essentials should I pack to take on a beach vacation?

I’m so glad I asked this simple question because I’d have never realized how different packing for the beach is from packing for another trip like going to Disney! Here are the top things my friends said not to miss putting in your suitcase.

  1. Baby powder-It helps with getting the sticky sand off. Who knew?
  2. Don’t overpack clothing! Beach trips should be low maintenance. A couple of pairs of shorts per person, a few t-shirts, swimsuits/swim shirts (check out men’s swim shorts here and check out women’s swimsuits here), pajamas, and a sweatshirt/long pants if it gets cool at night. All the extra clothes you’ll want to throw in the suitcase “just in case”…you won’t need them! Basics are the best. (Proozy almost always has great deals on name brand clothing that would be perfect to take to the beach.) It’s okay to be beach bums. If you plan on doing a nice dinner or two, then don’t forget to pack a nice outfit for going out. (If you’re in need of a cute going out dress, then check these out!)
  3. Drinks and snacks for the beach. Fresh fruit is an awesome snack for the beach.
  4. Food to make lunches to take down to the beach. This will save on trips back and forth.
  5. Ziplock bags for shells the kids are sure to find.
  6. Flip flops because the sand gets HOT! (Cupshe has some ADORABLE flip flops!)
  7. Water bottles and a cooler-These hydro flasks are PERFECT for keeping your drinks nice and cold all day.
  8. Bug spray
  9. Bactine or something similar to treat bug bites
  10. Baby wipes to clean little hands and faces
  11. Waterproof phone case
  12. Sunscreen
  13. Life jackets
  14. Sunglasses (get some great deals here or here)

What beach essentials should I pack?

Since you’re going to the beach, there are obviously some beach related things that you should consider taking or purchasing.

  1. Beach towels-You can check and see if the place you’re staying provides them, but make sure you have them. (Check out these beach blankets! Or take a look at these extra large beach towels.)
  2. Sand toys
  3. One shovel and bucket per kid, max
  4. Beach umbrella or canopy to sit under for shade from the sun
  5. Beach chairs or sling chairs-You can check to see if the place you’re staying has any before buying them.
  6. Small net for catching little fish like minnows
  7. Fold up beach wagon-Make sure it has large sand wheels on it, or it will be a bear to pull.
  8. Portable picnic table-You can use it for so many other adventures than just the beach!

So now that you have a better idea of what you need, go ahead and start packing! Let the memory making begin.
